Does It Matter Which County You Get Fingerprinted In?

The short answer: no, your fingerprints are submitted to a state or federal database — not to the county. A Live Scan provider in Miami-Dade can submit your prints to any Florida agency just as easily as one in Broward. What matters is three things: your ORI code is correct, the provider is FDLE-authorized, and the capture is high-quality.

Miami-Dade Specific Agencies

Miami-Dade has several county-specific agencies that require their own ORI codes. If you work for or with any of these, make sure your fingerprint provider has the correct code:

  • Miami-Dade County Public Schools (FL0130000) — the 3rd largest school district in the U.S.
  • Miami-Dade Corrections & Rehabilitation (FL0130010) — correctional officers and detention staff
  • Miami-Dade Police Department (FL0130001) — police applicants, alarm permits, county clearances
  • Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (FL0130900) — firefighters, EMTs, paramedics
  • Miami-Dade Aviation / MIA Airport (FL0131000) — SIDA badges, airport employees, airfield contractors
  • PortMiami (FL0131100) — TWIC holders, cruise terminal workers, seaport contractors
  • City of Miami Police (FL0130400) — taxi/rideshare licensing, special event permits
  • City of Miami Beach (FL0130500) — business licenses, hotel/resort screening, beach vendor permits
  • Miami Dade College (FL0130100) — nursing, education, and health sciences programs

Broward-Specific Agencies

Broward County has its own set of agencies and ORIs:

  • Broward County Public Schools (FL0060000) — 6th largest district in the U.S.
  • Broward Sheriff's Office / BSO (FL0060100) — alarm permits, contractor licensing, county background checks
  • Broward Health / North Broward Hospital District (FL0060500) — healthcare workers and medical staff
  • Broward County Aviation / FLL Airport (FL0060600) — SIDA badges, airline employees, airfield contractors
  • Port Everglades (FL0060700) — TWIC holders, cruise line employees, cargo handlers
  • City of Fort Lauderdale (FL0060400) — business licenses, beach/marine vendor permits
  • City of Hollywood (FL0060800) — business permits, resort/hotel employee screening
  • City of Pembroke Pines (FL0060900) — business licenses, city-required clearances
  • City of Coral Springs (FL0061000) — business licensing, contractor permits

Which County Has More Options?

As of 2026, most fingerprinting providers in both counties are national chains (IdentoGO, Fieldprint, PrintScan) with limited walk-in availability and hidden pricing. Provn is locally owned, posts all pricing transparently online, and is open 7 days a week until 9PM — a combination that neither county's chain stores offer.
